Using MRI to detect inter-individual differences and compensatory mechanisms in Huntington’s disease
Despite its monogenetic origin, Huntington’s disease (HD) is highly heterogeneous at the clinical but also the neuronal level. The availability of a genetic tests allows the identification of gene mutation carriers years before the onset of clinical symptoms. Based on these two characteristics, my talk will summarise data from MRI studies and network analyses probing into the highly variable neuronal representation of HD. Furthermore, I will present data from the Track-On fMRI study which aims to reliably detect compensatory mechanisms in the preclinical stage of HD.
