Predictability and Liking in Rhythm Production: new version

Music is one of the activities people usually report as pleasurable. It is thought that this pleasantness is due to the exploitation of predictive mechanisms. However, predictability and liking have usually been studied in the context of listening. In this new project, we would explore how predictability measures and self-reported liking are linked while producing rhythms. To do so, first, we built some rhythms that include metrical context and a production part that will have different complexity degrees as indexed by information content given by the IDyOM model – a measure that is related to the prediction error in the Predictive Coding Framework. Here, it is presented the new version of the paradigm, the new stimuli, and the method used to select a range of rhythms according to their predictability.
