Music-evoked pleasantness and sleep consolidation
Next Thursday I will present the plans for my first experiment in the lab. This experiment consists in the latest update of a paradigm that seeks experimental effects of sleep consolidation on the ‘exposure’ or ‘familiarity’ effect in music-evoked pleasantness. Essentially, this effect predicts that the more familiar an agreeable music piece is, the more pleasant it becomes. This effect is thought to be explained by implicit memory mechanisms, and as such, it might be liable to consolidation enhancement during sleep. During the talk I will briefly present the theoretical background of the study, as well as its hypotheses and experimental design. There will also be room for suggestions and comments, so I incite you to come and participate.
