Clara García Gorro – Thesis defense

Clara finished her degree in Biochemistry at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in 2011. After doing a one-year internship at the University of Aberdeen as a research assistant in the Department of Psychology, she undertook a Masters in Neuroimaging at King’s College London.

In 2013, she started a PhD at the Cognition and Brain Plasticity Unit in Barcelona under the supervision of Ruth de Diego Balaguer and Estela Cámara.
In this project, Clara combined different neuroimaging modalities to investigate the neurobiological basis of interindividual differences in Huntington’s disease, a genetic neurodegenerative disorder. In 2014, she was awarded with “La Caixa” Foundation grant to course her doctoral studies.

During her PhD, Clara has been in two international placements, at Imperial College London (UK) and the Donders Institute (the Netherlands).

Clara will defend her thesis this January as part of the Doctoral Programme in Biomedicine of the University of Barcelona.
